Announcing Visibox 2.6

Visibox 2.6.3 is out. Here’s what’s new:

New Features

  • MIDI volume control

MIDI CC 7 is now mapped to volume control by default. You can map other CCs to Visibox volume by editing the MIDI Map (File > Preferences > MIDI Map...)

  • MIDI Song Select via CC

In addition to using MIDI program change to select songs, you can now also use MIDI CC messages to select songs. In the MIDI Map (File > Preferences > MIDI Map) you can assign a CC to song select. The CC value will be quantized to the number of songs in your project. The value 0 will always be song 1 and 127 will always be the last song in your project. This means that if you assign a MIDI slider control to Song Select in the MIDI Map window, you can simply slide it up and down to select songs. If you need more precise, random-access control, use Song Select Via Program Change.

  • Volume Mute Button in Control Bar

Clicking on the speaker icon next to the Volume control will now mute Visibox.

  • Temporary Clips

Visibox now shows a temporary Clip in the Controller Window while it is determining file type, copying, and converting an imported media file. This just means that you get better feedback to let you know that Visibox is processing your file.

  • Consolidated Progress Window

There is now a single progress window with all the progress bars for media conversions and background tasks. In the past Visibox had a separate window for each task. When you dragged in a lot of files, it could get pretty messy. Now it doesn't!

  • Faster file conversion

Media conversion is now Apple Silicon optimized and is much faster on M1/M2 Macs.

Bug Fixes

  • fixed background clip not resuming after a clip finishes with "When Clip Ends" set to "Stop"

  • fixed volume control bouncing after being adjusted

  • fixed clip not found when media conversion fails

  • fixed clip display order sometimes getting weird when rearranging

  • fixed LEDs not flashing for some MIDI maps

Older MIDI maps do not have output mappings which breaks blinking the playing clip LED on some MIDI devices. We've updated Visibox to be more tolerant of missing output mappings.

  • fixed broken clip thumbnails

Thumbnail generation could fail but still write a file. We updated Visibox to detect the broken thumbnails and regenerate them.

  • fixed "Show Output/Control Window" menu items aren't enabled when windows are hidden

  • fixed conversion library not installing for new users
