Visibox empowers performing musicians to create rich visual experiences

PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island – Visibox is a new Mac and Windows application that allows performers to control video like a musical instrument. Quickly create rich visual setlists by dropping in videos, images, and audio files – or add USB cameras to put the performers on the screen. Connect a video projector to a laptop computer and every bedroom songwriter can create Taylor Swift, Flaming Lips, Tool, or Pink Floyd-style live performances at their local club or streaming over Twitch.

Visibox represents a new category of software that we’re calling an Audiovisual Performance Environment (APE). Unlike the complicated VJ software of the past, Visibox is aimed at performers who want to be able to quickly and easily control concert visuals on stage. Designed with gigging musicians in mind, Visibox works with MIDI keyboards, foot-pedals, or drum pads to allow for flexible control while playing guitar, drums, keyboards, or another instrument. Visibox also works with Elgato’s popular Stream Deck controllers and video/image/camera clip previews will appear across the device’s buttons.

Most live performers will use Visibox with a video projector, but it can work just as well connected to a television or any type of monitor. Visibox is also designed to integrate as an input to the popular OBS live streaming application for live streaming to Twitch, YouTube, Facebook, Reddit, or just about any other streaming service. Additionally, for performers who use backing tracks, Visibox can control those too.

Visibox was developed by Spaceage, a software company started by Jeff Robbins. Jeff is an accomplished musician and songwriter who spent 7 years on A&M Records touring with his band Orbit and learning first-hand the needs of gigging performers. Subsequently, Jeff started the digital interactive agency Lullabot and built a reputation for his knowledge of software development, design, and user experience. Lullabot’s client list includes The Grammys, Sony Music, MTV, NBC, TBS, Tesla, and Google. These days, Jeff is focused on getting Visibox into the hands of musicians and other performers who want to create more immersive experiences for their audiences.

“Performers are itching to play shows in 2022,” says Robbins. “Visibox can help make these shows even more compelling. This is a new type of creative tool and I'm excited to see how people will use it.”

Available for Windows and Mac (Intel or Apple Silicon) in English and Spanish, Visibox lists for USD $170, but Spaceage is offering an introductory discount of 25%-off through March 31st, 2022. There is also a 14-day free trial available. Downloads and more information are available at https://spaceage.tv.
